Update

Tyler: his cut is starting to heal nicely. It has been touch and go all weekend with it, it got so swollen I was worried the stitches had ripped or something. With is being on his lip he is constantly moving it and pulling at it. I have been so nervous about it all weekend! Today it is finally actually looking okay to me. How you keep a wound right next to a 4 years old's mouth clean and dry? I have NO idea. We aren't. He is no longer complaining about the pain he just, "wants the whiskers out". :) Wednesday he gets the "whiskers" out


Grace: doing AWESOME potty training. KNOCK ON WOOD, no accidents all weekend. She is even going number two on the potty! This has been way too easy and it almost makes me wonder if it could be real? :)She is also going to bed very nicely at the moment. I pray I didn't just jinx all the good that is happening by saying this but she is doing so fantastically I have to give her all the credit.

Adam: has caught this really nasty virus called the naughty virus. anyone ever heard or experienced this one? I am guessing maybe with Grace potty training and Tyler getting stitches he was wanting some attention this weekend because he was just plain naughty.

Baby: baby is still making me nauseous in the evening...this SHOULD end soon!

Tylerman gets stitches

We had just got home yesterday evening from a little family outing of shopping and dinner. All the sudden we hear a slam and screams. Tyler apparently fell INTO the train table and sliced open the side of his mouth on a very sharp edge. It started to bleed and I knew instantly he would need some sort of stitches. I called the urgent care nearby and they said a 4 year old with a cut on the face has to go to the ER. So away we went to the ER. Luckily we got right in. The doctor was fabulous. He had me hold a topical liquid numbing medicine on his face with gauze for 45 mins and that is all the numbing they did! He said the shot to numb it generally hurts more than the stitches. So, he was right Tyler didn't even squirm as he put 3 stitches in his face. I squirmed some...yes I am a nurse but it's not fun to watch on your own child. Tyler did AWESOME, held perfectly still even with a huge drape over his face and it was his bedtime and he hadn't napped. He really impressed me. So, home we went and he gets the stitches out wednesday. That was that. Dare I say it went WELL! He just cooperated very well. He slept okay last night. Woke up in the middle of the night complaining of pain. Luckily the motrin helped because that cut looked SO SORE. This morning he is saying he has wiskers and wants them out! He also won't stop licking the wound which is making me cringe. So I did put a bandage on it, which was tricky right next to his mouth. thankfully mouths heal very quickly.

Their is a line across his face where he hit the corner of the table and then the actual wound is about a cm long and was probably a 1/2 cm wide. yuk.



still smiling! the location of this makes me really believe it will not be noticble once it heals, its right near the crease of his smile.

And NOW...

for our BIG news. Sure Grace is potty training like a champ and in a big girl bed all just in time because...












Baby Baerlocher number 4 is indeed on it's way.

We got to see he or she today for the first time. I am 12 weeks along and happy to be through the first 3 months. I had an appt today and they had trouble finding the heartbeat so we got to have an ultrasound, YIPPEE, that was so fun. We saw a strong heartbeat of 182 beats per minute and we even saw the baby put it's thumb in it's mouth! SERIOUSLY! :) Check out this picture. What a miracle. At 12 weeks there is a BABY in there! So precious. It was a great day.



I have all the normal symptoms like exhaustion and I have been nauseated for sure, but honestly this has been the easiest one so far. I am hoping the nausea will pass now that I am about out of the first trimester. We are so excited to finally tell people, it's hard to keep these secrets.

Funny story; I had this ultrasound picture in the van and when I went to pick up Tyler from school I told him I had a surprise for him in the van. He ran to the van and I showed him the picture and he said, "is this the surprise? I thought it would be something to eat!". Kids are so honest:)

So of course I have to mention that the Jones family and us are now in a competition. Not for number of children because I am thinking we will tie on that one but when will baby number 4 arrive? I am due June 3rd (although the ultrasound I had today said a due date of may 29th I don't know yet if my doc will officially change it or not). Sara's due date is June 13th so the race is on and let me just tell you right now I am totally going to lose. I go overdue every time and so I am convinced she will indeed have her baby long before me:) In case you didn't know we were married the EXACT same day as these guys how weird would it be if we had our 4th baby's on the same day? :):) FUN FUN FUN stuff.

Now for the final question? when is it TOO soon to wear maternity clothes because I seriously feel like I need them already? :) yikes.

Major Milestones!

For Miss Gracie that is.

It's that time. Potty time. I have decided to potty train miss Grace. She has shown me signs and interest for quite some time now and I finally took the plunge and went for it. What does that mean you might ask? I put her in panties and haven't looked back. You see if you ask me (and I think that's fair enough since this is my 3rd child that I have potty trained) you have to commit, put them in underwear and just deal with it. This literally motivates everyone in the house/van/playground (or where ever you are) to get to the bathroom on time! (Trust me even Grandpa helps when they don't want their couch peed on! :) It's the only way if you ask me. It is a mess, of course! But it doesn't last long. Grace has been a champ too let me tell you. We have had 2 days of no diapers except at naps and bedtime and she is doing great! 3 accidents each day and that is major progress already. All the Halloween candy left over is making for nice rewards for all her accomplishments. (hey do you sit in boring meetings without being paid...no we all need a little incentive here) It means lots of laundry and many many stops to every bathroom in sight and finding bathrooms in stores that you didn't know existed, but again, it doesn't last long. Before you know it you have a potty trained child. I also am convinced that you can miss your opportunity to potty train. If you wait too long they get too smart and defiant and it becomes a battle. For now with Grace it is just fun. If she has an accident we say uh oh and change her pants and when she makes it to the potty we celebrate. Adam was potty trained right around the age of 2 and Tyler was potty trained by 2 1/2 and Tyler was by far the harder of the two. (Although personality could have played a role in that too) I'll keep you posted how Grace ends up doing. So far so good is all I can say after only 2 days.

The other major milestones for Gracie is that she got a new bed! We got her a toddler bed and she LOVES it! I don't even have anything else to say about it. She immediately wanted to sleep in it and has since the minute we put it in her room. Done deal. YIPPEE! :)

Grace's 2 year stats and the terrible appt

I took Grace for her 2 year well child check up on Tuesday. It went terribly. Don't get me wrong she is healthy, but behavior wise the appt sucked! She acted very much her age and it was so embarrassing. To start with, she wouldn't leave the waiting room when they called her name. I had to carry her back and if you think we were stopping at the scale on the way she would have nothing to do with it! The scale, I mean really. I quickly became annoyed. The nurse puts us in our exam room and Grace remembers her from her flu shot the week prior and immediately cries. She is apparently so upset that she poops her pants. Any of you know the doc office policy is they can't dispose of those for you so now I have a ripe diaper zipped into my diaper bag trying to hide the smell. Gross. So now we attempt to get her height and weight the two easiest things to do. She did stand on the scale but would not let them measure her. The nurse finally gets a measurement that puts her off the chart for height. She is normally around 75% so everyone assumes this was not accurate and yep we get to do it again. This time we get a much lower number so they ended up rounding the two numbers. lovely. She weighed 28 lbs and is approximately 36 inches tall. about 75% for each give or take. So the doc comes in. Now we all remember my previous post about the thing up the nose? Yea, she won't let him near her face at all. It was awful, she was hysterical. not fun, you get the picture. In the mean time my dear darling 4 year old jumps onto the exam table. I tell him he can be up there as long as he stays sitting. After the 4th warning and the 4th time he is standing and jumping the exam table I get him down. He fights me. The fit begins. The doctor says "uh oh, mom looks like you are in for a challenge" and he politely leaves us alone. Tyler threw the most gigantic fit I have seen in a long time. I stuck to my guns and would not let him back onto that table. The walls in this doc office are paper thin and I know they all heard every word. It felt like the fit lasted hours when I know it was minutes but it really felt like hours. Once he calmed down and I WON, the nurse sheepishly came in to give Grace her shots. Oh yea, still those left to do...awesome. She was very cool about Tylers fit and complimented me for sticking to my guns...I was still mortified!!!!!! Grace gets her shots, bawls her eyes out but at least at this point Tyler is totally defeated and obeying my every word. We walk out of the office as quickly as I can drag these darn children only to be stopped by the reception asking if we are all okay. "Yes, thank you, just had to win a little battle there." She too complimented me on winning the battle and again I STILL FELT MORTIFIED!!!!! I have never been so embarrassed in my life! That definitely goes down in the record books for the worst visit ever. Oh yea and the nurse politely asked if she could give them suckers and I said HELL NO! okay I said No, thank you but I wanted to say HELL NO! :) Any one else who has a fun story like this to make me feel better would be much appreciated. thank you:)

Happy Birthday Grace and Happy Halloween!

Happy Birthday to my sweet Gracie Girl! 2 short years ago she was born on a Sunday afternoon. Delivered by the nurse just like me when I was born and having two olders brothers...again just like me! :) She brings so much joy to our lives. Opening her gifts was insane! The other kids were helping way to much...mostly her brothers and it was chaos!!! They did all get opened I am just still trying to figure out what she all got!




Her cake was AWESOME~! Minnie Mouse and so adorable! She loved it! She loved the WHOLE day! You could just tell she was thrilled by it all.
























Then we switched gears to Halloween! We had 13 trick or treaters ages 1 week old to 5 years old. Here is a pic of each...it was seriously the most fun time ever!
