Proud to be Cavity FREE!

I took all 3 kids to the dentist today. It was a wonderful experience. They all had a turn and all did fabulously! No cavities and they all cooperated and were complimented on their polietness...just had to document this outing...cuz that doesn't happen just everyday! :)
Grace had her first experience in the dentist chair. It wasn't an official visit just a chair ride and a free toothbrush but she didn't know the difference, she thought it was great!

Leprechaun Dash

On Saturday the boys ran their first 1 mile road race!It was called the Leprechaun dash and if you had the most kids from your school there they gave $ to your PE department. Adam met up with a group from his class and I told him to walk with his teacher and stay with the group. He looked at me like I was crazy and said "mom, this is a RACE, I will be RUNNING!" It was loads of fun and he did great!!! Tyler ran a big part of it as well and I was proud of Tyler for finishing! It was a great family activity. Grace rode in the stroller while I pushed her doing my best to keep up with the boys. Afterwards, Justin ran a 5K in the adult race. The boys got a kick out of seeing him run.

De-Binkifying

Doesn't she look so cute and innocent...she is...sometimes!

De-Binkifying...I know I just made up a word but any mom who had a binki loving child knows what I am talking about. It is NOT a fun process. Sometimes it goes easy, sometimes not. Some people do the binki fairy some don't. Here's what you SHOULDN'T DO. Take it away and then leave town, it will not go well. We took the binki away Thursday and Thursday and Friday night were not bad...not great but not bad. Saturday night we were on the road and we of course did whatever it took to console her and the smart little two year old said, "hmm, rocking...patting my back...sleeping with you...I LIKE IT!". We have been paying for it since. Yesterday she cried/yelled/stood at gate in her doorway for 2 hours at nap time, 2 hours at bedtime and for 2 1/2 hours in the middle of the night. Well, Gracie Lou I have news for you we are not giving in. Binki is gone and we know you are capable of going to sleep all on your own so show us your stuff sista! In the meantime we pray this doesn't last much longer...we need SLEEP!At least this will all be behind us before another crummy sleeper is born. Yes I am 3 for 3 in the crummy sleeper department so I am honestly just expecting a 4th. I do plan to change some tactics...we'll see if it works for not.
For those of you who are LONG past this and might be amused by it, she does come up with clever things to yell from her gated room:
"I want this gate DOWN"
"MOMMM-EEEEEE"
"I need a kleenex"
"I bumped my nose"
"I want OUT"
"I want DADDEEEEE"
"I got to go POTTEEEE"
"I got to go POOOPYYY"
"I bite my finger!"
"Come GET ME!"

while it's not funny at 2am, I guess it's a little bit funny now. The girl has tenacity which my dear friend pointed out to me is actually a good trait to have...darn it!

Bye Bye Bink

Gracie just waved Bye Bye to her last binki. We were down to only one...she/we had lost the rest and this one has been broken for days(so the suction part didn't work). She still wanted it so we let her keep having it. Today, I deemed it unsafe and tossed it in the garbage! She helped me throw it away and we agreed she didn't need it anymore. Pray for us this transition goes smoothly! :) This really is good timing so she'll be long over it before baby 4 arrives...but still prayers please! ;)

Transient Synovitis

What? Well if your child wakes up one day and suddenly can't walk...he/she may have this! It was a glorious weekend at our house. We spent Saturday picnicking and playing at the park, riding bikes, playing outside. It was a great day. Tyler enjoyed himself as well without any complaints of pain. We put him to bed a healthy walking child and he wakes up the next morning and crawls out of his room crying. He could not put any weight on his right leg at all. When we ask him where it hurts he points to his right hip. We had a LONG wait at the urgent care only to be told the doctor thinks we need to head to the ER to rule out appendicitis. The ER doc immediately rules out appendicitis and agrees with us that it is indeed his hip. After x-rays and blood work both come back perfectly normal we get the diagnosis of Transient Synovitis and told to give him high doses of Motrin for 48 hours. I put a link below of a good description of it, if anyone is interested. I had never ever heard of such a thing. Tyler fit the symptoms perfectly and I am thrilled that this is all it was. Today 2 days later you would never know he couldn't walk on Sunday. He is pain free and running and jumping and ornery as ever. Thank God. :)
